Bears’ late rally not enough in loss to Tigers

English Valleys played Iowa Valley for the third time this season, this time in a one and done scenario for the first round of postseason play on February 13. The Bears lost both meetings by a combined 10 points with the latter being a one-point loss. They almost earned that elusive win in Marengo, but their late comeback ended short in a 59-51 defeat.

The Bears played some strong defense, as they had most of the season, but their offense couldn’t find any consistency early on. A low scoring opening quarter resulted in EV trailing 13-9 with the defense forcing turnovers but the offense couldn’t find ways to cash in. The momentum swung back to the well-traveled visitors when EV used a run to put themselves ahead briefly in the middle of the second quarter.
