City Investigates Potential Sewer Issue

Sigourney- The City of Sigourney is actively investigating an unspecified issue with the City’s sanitary sewer system. In response to a question from the News-Review Mayor Doug Glandon said that the issue is related to the DOT resurfacing project that occurred in the summer and fall months of 2018.

“We’re involved because it involved our sanitary sewer but everything was with that DOT project,” Glandon said.

Glandon, however, stated he was limited in what he could say on the matter.

“At this point, some of the stuff that’s going on I really don’t want to get into it to protect the city,” Glandon said.

Glandon added that he did not want to say that litigation was possible, but that the city was working to identify the issue, and a remedy.

“There’s still an investigative process going on right now,” he said.

The News-Review will keep readers up to date on this issue as it develops.

Glandon also said that the DOT is currently finishing up the resurfacing project from 2018 by replacing storm sewer intakes.
