Cobras defend turf in home opener

SIGOURNEY – It was a packed house at Cobra Field on Friday night, where the Cobras welcomed the Lynnville-Sully Hawks to town for their home opener. After a sluggish start – the Hawks actually led 8-7 after one quarter – Sigourney-Keota found their groove, pulling every rabbit out of the hat to cruise to a 56-14 win.

Jared Jensen’s team once again wore their opponent down with their patented rushing attack. But they also utilized an efficient passing attack, catching the Hawks off guard for two long scores in the second quarter. After the second score, a 64-yard dime ball from sophomore Cade Molyneux to Brady Duwa, which put the Cobras up 35-8, Duwa came to the sideline, looked at his coach and shouted, “We pass the ball now!” The threat of a capable passing attack makes the Cobras that much scarier moving forward.
