Cobras notch first win, girls take loss to Lady Demons

The SK bowling squad started their season at home by facing Washington on December 5, picking up a win on the boys’ side, while the girls took a loss to split the day.

The girls weren’t expected to do much so early in the season, a majority having little or no experience on the Varsity bowling squad. All but three on the team are sophomores, with Dana O’nell being the lone sophomore to make the Varsity team for their first meet. She finished with 172 points, starting off with a 102 in her first game.

The ladies were led by Hannah Alderson, whom rolled a 135 in game one and a 143 in game two to finish out with a 278 series. Hope de Regnier posted a 248, her high a 130 in game one, Claire Svenby had a 243, posting a 130 in game one and Maizy Cowman and Madison Richard each had 238 series.

The boys had higher hopes with a couple star returning Varsity bowlers in Holden Huffman and Nathan Morris, both of whom bowled over 300 series. Morris led the team with a 415 series, finishing with a 214 in the first and just barely got over 200 in the second game. Huffman improved as the night went on, bowling a 159 then posted a 183 to finish with a 342 series. Devin Fry came just shy of a 250 series, bowling a 107 then a 135 to finish at 242.

The Cobras have some time off before their next meet on December 18 when they host Davis County before heading into winter break.
