Dan Gable coming to Sigourney

            Wrestling legend Dan Gable will be at the Sigourney Casey’s from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12 as part of a book tour sponsored by Casey’s. Gable will be signing autograph of his books and taking pictures with fans.

            Gable’s career began as a three-time Class AA individual state champion out of Waterloo High School, later wrestling for Iowa State University in route to two NCAA national championships and an overall record of 181-1. As a wrestler, Gable would go on to compete internationally between 1971 to 1973, winning a gold medal at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. From 1976 to 1997, Gable coached collegiately at the University of Iowa, amassing 15 NCAA team titles during his tenure.
