Eagles soar in first-round regional win

KEOTA — Last Tuesday night, Oct. 22, Keota and Tri-County squared off in the first round of postseason play looking to capture a regional win. Behind strong play from their primary hitters, Addison Swanson and Taylor Kindred, the Eagles were able to put away the Lady Trojans in straight sets, 25-13, 25-15, and 25-22.

The Eagles surely remembered their matchup with Tri-County just under a month prior, when Keota was coming off their first win of 2019, riding high, only to be brought back to Earth by the underdog Lady Trojans and their first win. Tri-County went on to win three sets to one that evening, but it was a much different story last Tuesday.

Keota held leads of 7-3, 12-5, 17-7, and 20-13 before closing out Set No. 1 25-13. Swanson, one of two seniors for the Eagles, sensed the moment and played like it, garnering four of her five aces in the first set to set the tone for the entire evening.
