EV drops road game with North Mahaska

NORTH MAHASKA – With the postseason just around the corner, Becky Becker’s Lady Bears are still searching for consistency. Entering Thursday’s match with the Warhawks of North Mahaska, EV was 4-12 and looking for a signature win. But the Warhawks proved to be too much on their home floor, winning in three sets, 25-19, 25-8, and 25-12.

Junior Madison McKay led North Mahaska. McKay was magnificent, posting a match-high 11 kills, six digs, and one ace. Setter Karlee Chandler, who totaled 27 of the team’s 28 assists, continually set McKay and senior Kassidi Steel up for big hits, which EV had a tough time stopping. North Mahaska coach Alicia Arkema liked what she saw from her team, and hopes to build on the progress moving forward.

“We have put ourselves in a really good position to compete for the conference title. We plan on competing for the conference tournament and then going deep into Regionals.”
