Giese-Carriker Home Consumed in Fire

A 911 call came in at 9:52 a.m. Monday Jan.12 for a house fire at the home of Jennifer Giese-Carriker and her three children at 205 N. Valley St. in Delta. Sigourney Fire and What Cheer Fire were dispatched and arrived on scene to a house fully engulfed on the first and second floors. A defensive approach was taken as no interior attack could be made. Assistance for water and manpower was requested from Hedrick Fire and Keswick Fire. The house is considered a total loss and does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

Sigourney Fire Chief Bill Halleran said, “In speaking with the family, they were home for most of the morning and had just left to run some errands. They returned home to find smoke and fire coming from attic area.”
