Harper man charged with sex abuse

A Harper teen is in custody after authorities allege he had improper sexual contact with an 11-year-old between 2015 and 2017. Isaiah Michael Dean Johnson, 19, was formally charged with second-degree sexual abuse on Dec. 5. According to a criminal complaint filed in Keokuk County District court, the improper contact occurred between the 2015-2016 school year and the first few months of the 2016-2017 school year.

The complaint describes in graphic detail the allegations against Johnson, who was between 14 and 15 years old when the alleged abuse would have occurred. According to the complaint, after the alleged victim in the case told her brother what had occurred between her and Johnson.

“When the brother confronted Johnson with this, Johnson apologized for his behavior. Johnson told the victim to not tell anyone about what they were doing,” states the complaint, filed by Keota Police Chief Doug Conrad.
