IASB to Hold Gubernatorial Candidate Interviews Aug. 29

Branstad, Hatch to discuss their positions on important education issues

Members of the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) will interview the Democratic and Republican candidates for Governor on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Heartland Area Education Agency, 6500 Corporate Drive, in Johnston. Governor Terry Branstad will be interviewed at 9 a.m. and Senator Jack Hatch will be interviewed at 10:30 a.m.

IASB President-elect and chair of the IASB Legislative Resolutions Committee Amy Jurrens, school board president from George-Little Rock Schools, will ask the same set of pre-determined questions to each candidate. The questions will focus on the issues of greatest interest to Iowa school board members.

Members of the media are welcome and encouraged to attend, and a full transcript of the interviews will be posted two to three weeks on ia-sb.org following the event.

IASB does not endorse candidates for political office. IASB's mission is to educate, support and challenge school board members in their pursuit of world class education for all students in Iowa.

For more information about the interviews, the pre-determined questions or IASB, contact Tracy Bainter, IASB Communications Director, at (800) 795-4272.

IASB is a private, nonprofit organization representing Iowa's 336 school districts, 9 area education agencies and 15 community colleges.
