Kane welcomed as new Regional Sports Editor, Comfort named Publisher

The Sigourney News-Review and Keota Eagle are pleased to welcome Jackson Kane as Regional Sports Editor. Kane was born and raised in the small Western Illinois town of Roseville, graduating from Monmouth-Roseville High School in 2012. After high school, Kane moved on to Bradley University, where he graduated with a degree in Sports Communication in May of 2016. While at Bradley, he was a walk-on member of the men’s basketball team during the 2014-15 season. Prior to moving to Sigourney, Kane worked as a substitute teacher and basketball coach.

Kane is excited to start working with the high school athletic directors, coaches, and athletes of the surrounding communities. Bringing high quality sports coverage and writing insightful, compelling stories is something he very much looks forward to doing in the coming months.

“Every athlete has a story — some are more captivating than others — but it’s always a pleasure to tell those stories about determination, perseverance, and overcoming hardships,” Kane said.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing sports (mostly basketball), fantasy football (he’s borderline obsessed), spending time with friends and family, and working out.

“I’m a very friendly guy so don’t hesitate to say “hey” if you see me out and about,” he said.
