Knoll Ridge CC hosts SICL conference meet

NORTH ENGLISH — Nine different SICL cross-country teams converged at Knoll Ridge Country Club in North English last Tuesday to find out who was the best of the best in their conference. It was a chilly, windy day on the course, but the runners were able to fight through it.

The phenomenal junior season of Sigourney’s Mason Moore continued with a first-place finish at the event. Moore’s average mile pace of 5:58 and overall time of 18:33 was enough to edge James Gruver of Lynnville-Sully, who crossed the line 19 seconds after Moore. English Valleys’ Bryson Grove captured third place on his home course, timing in at 18:56. Sigourney’s Jake Ives and EV’s Luis Gonzalez garnered top-20 finishes of their own, with Ives placing 12th and Gonzalez 19th.

Sigourney placed fifth out of five boys teams at the event, while Keota and English Valleys did not qualify for team scores.
