Lady Bears earn points from discus, relays events

The English Valleys girls’ track team finished in 10th place at the SICL meet on May 1 after totaling 26 points on the evening. Of those 26, most came from discus and several others from various relay events.

    Madison Trimpe followed up her competition at the Drake Relays with another first-place finish against her conference opponents, as she has done much of the season. She threw the discus for a measured 112’-1.00” at the SICL meet, two inches more than the runner-up in the event.

    The Lady Bears also pulled in several points from their relay finishes, the best coming from the 4x800m relay. The relay team of Isabella Fisher, Isabel Schneider, Clara Mews and Kailey Jackson put up a time of 11:40.02, fending off Montezuma for fifth place in the 4x800m and earning the team four points.

    English Valleys got another three points from their 4x100m relay, running a time of 56.07 seconds to take sixth. Another three points were earned in the 4x400m relay as the group of four combined for a time of 4:54.28 to take sixth place. The medley teams combined for three more points, two coming from a seventh-place finish in the 800m sprint medley (2:05.20) and the other point from the 1600m DMR, taking eighth with a time of 6:14.38.

    Other results as follows:

    100-meter dash: Audrey Grove finished 12th (14.76)

    200-meter dash: Isabella Fisher took 14th (31.65), Clara Mews finished 17th (32.45)

    400-meter dash: Hannah Marsh finished seventh (1:08.83)

    800-meter run: Kailey Jackson took eighth (2:54.07), Alaina Allen finished 19th (3:38.50)

    100-meter hurdles: Audrey Grove took ninth (18.97), Hannah Marsh finished 16th (20.11)

    1500-meter run: Megan Glandon finished ninth (6:21.66)

    Discus: Alaina Allen finished 19th (39’-6.00”)

    Long Jump: Brooke Coffman finished 10th (13’-9.00”)

    Shot Put: Alaina Allen finished 17th (16’-10.25”)

    4x200m: English Valleys finished ninth (2:03.66)

    The Lady Bears had one more meet on May 7 at Montezuma to prime for the District track meet at Waco on May 10, with State implications on the line.
