Lady Trojans kick off outdoor track season

Belle Plaine - The Tri-County girls’ track program began their 2019 outdoor season at Belle Plaine on March 26. Two of their athletes earned points in their various events, combining for nine total points.

Miranda Little had the best day for the Lady Trojans, earning all eight of her points in the discus event. Her throw of 93’-3.00” was the second best in the field to Madison Trimpe of English Valleys and three feet better than Danielle Seymour of Meskwaki. Mariah Little also earned a point for her throw of 26’-1.50” in the shot put, finishing in sixth place.

Other Lady Trojans to compete included Lauren Molyneux, Reace Thomas, Emma Miover and Lily Elwood. Molyneux finished eighth in the discus with 63’-2.00” and 11th in the shot put with 16’-9.00”. Thomas ran in the 100m dash, finishing ninth with a time of 16.31 seconds and placed 10th in the 200m dash, running a time of 35.02.

Miover and Elwood ran in the 400m dash with Miover finishing seventh, running a time of 1:15.77, and Elwood finished ninth with a time of 1:38.28. Mariah also competed in the discus, placing ninth with a throw of 60’-3.00” and Miranda ran a time of 18.08 seconds in the 100m dash to finish 12th.

The Lady Trojans will be back in action April 4 when they head to North Mahaska.
