Lady Trojans Lose Tight Battle Against Tigers

Marengo – Tri-County finished one run shy of earning a road victory when they played at Iowa Valley on June 17. An early lead slowly slipped away and ended up with a walk-off for the Tigers.

The Lady Trojans put together a solid second inning, combining for five runs scored in the second inning. Iowa Valley countered with four runs of their own but were unable to plate any more runs until the fifth inning. Tri-County remained tied with the Tigers heading into the final inning, but it was Iowa Valley who scored the final run to beat the Lady Trojans 6-5.

Tri-County was led by Taylor Dowd with three hits, while Emma Miover and Miranda Little had two hits apiece as well. Miover drove in a pair of runs, as did Delanie Little, with Reace Thomas responsible for the final run. In total, the Lady Trojans had 11 hits and walked five times.

On the mound, Delanie and Miover combined for seven innings. Delanie struck out three in two innings pitched while Miover shouldered five innings of work, allowing two runs, walked one and struck out two.

Tri-County played at Keota on June 24 and followed that up by playing at Montezuma the following day. They are scheduled to finish out the week by hosting English Valleys on June 26.
