Lady Trojans respond with close loss after offensive struggles

The Lady Trojans had difficulty acquiring runs in their three games during week five of the softball season. Their game at Iowa Valley on June 18 was an 0-12 loss followed by a 0-14 loss at home to North Mahaska on June 19. They didn’t get any reprieve as they finished out the week at Belle Plaine but did play them close in a tough 2-7 loss.

In their earlier game this season the Lady Trojans were shutout 0-10 to the Lady Plainsmen in a game that went five innings. Belle Plaine scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and kept Tri-County off the board until the third inning. The Lady Trojans were able to put together some more consistent offense and plate two runs to tie the game but Belle Plaine would respond with five runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Neither team scored in the final four innings of play as Tri-County fell 2-7.

Lady Trojan leaders (through first two games): Reace Thomas – 2 hits, Emma Miover – 2 Ks

The Lady Trojans closed out their regular season by hosting Keota on June 25 and staying home to play Montezuma on June 26 before traveling to face English Valleys on June 27.
