Lady Trojans strong second half not enough

The Lady Trojans suffered a loss when they faced Iowa Valley on January 22. Despite a better second half, Tri-County came up short in a 28-52 defeat.

The first half didn't do any favors for the Lady Trojans, as they put together a five-point performance. The tough defense was broken down by Iowa Valley as they were able to put up 30 points on the Trojans.

The second half was a different story, as Tri-County kept things competitive for a duration of the time. They were able to double their first half output with 10 points in the third quarter, and the defense was starting to get some stops.

The fourth quarter was even more successful for the Lady Trojans, as they put up 13 points on offense while only allowing nine more points from Iowa Valley. In total, Tri-County wound up winning the second half of the game 23-22, but the first half deficit was just too much.

Balanced scoring helped the Lady Trojans find some success in the second half. Allison Steinke put up eight points, had five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Three girls scored six points for Tri-County including Mersadie Little, Riley Danner and Skyler Fisher. Little had a team-high seven steals while Fisher grabbed eight rebounds to lead the team. Danner was the only girl to convert from behind the arc. Emma Miover rounded out the scoring with two points, making one of her two shot attempts.

The Lady Trojans faced an even stiffer test when they next hosted Sigourney on January 26.
