Panthers breeze through home meet

Packwood – Pekin hosted and dominated their home meet on April 15, placing top-five in most events though there were no team scores recorded. The Panthers used their meet to move pieces around and figure out who excels where. They will begin to focus on prepping for State with April winding down and four meets till their conference meet.

The Panthers had some form of success in each event they competed in, earning the top two spots in the 100m dash. Dayne Eckley ran the fastest time of 12.17 seconds, followed closely by Kevin Rohr who placed second with 12.27 seconds. In their mid-distance sprints and runs, Tanner Conger ran the best time of 58.73 seconds in the 400m dash and Brady Millikin won the 800m run at 2:14.99. Zack Wise also placed third in the 800m run with a time of 2:20.59.

Pekin ran more solid times in their relays, beginning with the 4x800m relay at 9:03.77, taking first. They also placed second in the 800m sprint medley at 1:43.78, 4x200m relay at 1:39.22 and 4x400m relay at 3:55.53. The Panthers ran time of 47.39 in the 4x100m relay, 1:04.71 in the shuttle hurdle relay and 3:59.70 in the DMR, placing third in all three events.

Pekin finished out their week at EBF on April 18, followed by a meet at Sigourney on April 23.
