Pekin boys win home Invitational, while EV takes fifth on the day

PEKIN- The Panther boys track squad never looked back on Thursday, April 6 when they hosted the Pekin Invitational. Pekin won with 236 total team points, with Cardinal, Keota, Van Buren, English Valleys and Moulton-Udell finishing as listed. EV scored 52 team points, while the runner-up Cardinal track team had 115 points. That gave Pekin an astonishing 121-point victory on the day, six more points than Cardinal had scored.

            Dayne Eckley took second in the 100 M dash, while teammate Kennan Winn took third with an 11.71 and an 11.72 time respectively. Eckley also finished in third in the 200 M and Winn fifth with Canyon Decker taking sixth. EV saw Jason Daughenbaugh finish outside the top six runners in the 100 as well as Cauy Beardmore, and Sam Kingland finish in seventh in the 200, just outside team points, as were Nolan Grove and Caleb Peach for EV. Pekin’s Zack Conger took first in the 400 with a 56.75 time, while teammate Keenan Winn finished in third with .24 of a second over one minute on the clock. Derek Dulaney was awarded a team point for his sixth place finish in the event for EV.
