Pekin sweeps the boys and girls SEISC titles at Winfield Thursday

WINFIELD- It was a clean sweep as the Panthers took the Southeast Iowa Super Conference championships in both boys and girls track at Winfield, Mount-Union High School Thursday, May 4. The boys nearly doubled-up the runner-up school, Lone Tree with 181 total team points to Lone Tree’s 92. The Ladies had a little tougher road, but still came out on top by 47 points over Mediapolis the runner-up, with 148 total team points on the day.

             Zack Conger, Sam Roth, Chandler Eckley and Isaiah Wittrock took the gold in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:26.61. The girls sent out Hollie Loper, Shea Dahlstrom, Hunter Lock and Mackenzie Martin, who finished fourth in the same event. The boys 4x100 was made up of Tyler Copeland, Dayne Eckley, Chase Eckley and Monico Requena, who brought home the gold with a time of 43.82 to blaze around the oval. In the girls 4x100 relay, Zoey Wright, Emilee Linder, Cate Roth and Kaylee Linder took home the gold with a time of 51 second flat.

            Copeland, Levi Long, Chase Eckley and Requena took first place again in the boys 4x200 relay, as did the girls with Wright, Roth and the Linders running a time of 1:49.51.The boys distance medley was led by Copeland, Requena, Roth and Ryan Millikin, as they took the gold again with a time of 3:40.92. The girls finished third in the distance medley with Julianna Baumgartner, Hunter Lock, Loper and Dahlstrom.
