Perfect season still alive

WAPELLO — Just two minutes into Friday’s game against Wapello, the Indians struck first, jumping in front 6-0. That was the first deficit for Sigourney-Keota since Week 3 against Albia, when they fell behind 7-6 with 3:23 to go in the first quarter. But the Cobras responded, as they’ve done all season long, steamrolling their way to yet another decisive win, 42-6.

Senior quarterback J.D. Stout is proving to be as close to unstoppable as any player in Class 1A, piling up another 236 rushing yards and four total touchdowns in the win. He now sits behind only Pleasantville’s Cale Anthony by 15 rushing yards for the Class 1A rushing title.

The thunder to Stout’s lightning, Sam Sieren, also put together another fabulous game. He amassed 134 rushing yards on 18 carries and found the end zone twice. Senior Zeke Webb was on the receiving end of Stout’s 12-yard touchdown pass, giving Webb his first score of the season.
