River Hills to offer Family Planning Services

Susan Turner, ARNP

River Hills plans to expand services offered in the Richland clinic beginning December 13. Susan Turner, ARNP, will travel to Richland on the second Wednesday of every month to offer family planning services including short and long term birth control, sexually transmitted disease testing, post-natal care, and other services provided through a gynecology clinic for patients both male and female age 13 and over.

Turner is from Bloomfield and specializes in Women’s Health. She has been an ARNP since 2000, and began her career with River Hills in 2007. Turner works with Patricia Tucker, ARNP in the Ottumwa office, where they have been seeing family planning patients since March.

“The only services not offered will be in-patient hospital care and surgery,” said Kari Rupe, representative for River Hills. “We can do all in-office procedures needed.”

This program is part of the Title XIX project, which provides grant funding through the Iowa Department of Public Health. The clinic will accept private insurance as well as Medicare and Medicaid. They also have a sliding fee scale for those without insurance.

"River Hills has been providing gynecology services since 2007 but now we have been awarded Title 10 funding which will allow us to provide expanded reproductive services to those patients who may not otherwise be able to afford it,” Rupe said.

All services are confidential and River Hills also participates in the family planning program, and patients can enroll on-site. Same day appointments are available and although appointments are preferred, walk-in services are available. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, you can call River Hills at 641-455-5431 or visit their website at http://www.riverhillshealth.org/
