Savages Battle at Keota & Washington

A difficult week on the court left the Sigourney varsity volleyball team reeling last week.

The Savages took a quick bus ride to Keota last Monday to square off with their rival Eagles. After defeating Keota twice in 2013, Sigourney was unable to continue its winning trend, as the Eagles knocked off the Savages in four sets to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Sigourney started out strong in the first set and got out to a 10-6 lead. The Eagles bounced back, though, and tied the set at 15 with a Madison Sheetz kill. The Savages regained the lead a little later, with a Sierra Davis kill that gave them a 17-16 advantage. A Jordan Carter kill, minutes later, extended Sigourney’s lead to 22-19, before yet another Carter kill made it game-point for the Savages, at 24-21.
