Savages, Eagles compete at Washington Invite

WASHINGTON – Six girls and boys cross-country teams came together to compete at the Washington Invitational last Tuesday at Washington Country Club. Mt. Pleasant was dominant on the girls side, finishing with a team score of 22. Their top five finishers came in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, and 8th. Senior Abby Ryon paced the field with a time of 21 minutes and 23 seconds.

For local talent, two Keota girls led the way. Jenna Jaeger and Jordan Hammen finished 38th and 41st respectively. Jaeger ran the race in 28:56, while Hammen finished in 30:17. All five of Sigourney’s girls were behind the Keota duo – Georgia Atwood, Megan Stuhr, Alyssa Landgrebe, Sydney Atwood, and Morgan Clubb. Keota’s coach Dakota McCombs is pleased with the progress his girls have made throughout the season.

“The girls are both doing a great job. Jenna had her best time of the year this meet, and she ran really well. Jordan has been doing very well, and she did a really good job of finishing hard, passing three people at the end,” he said.
