Savages finish third in Class B at Ike Ryan Relays
Eddyville – Sigourney faced several local schools at the Ike Ryan Relays on April 18, hosted by EBF. They wound up with 84 team points, placing third in the Class B section. Among them, Payton Schauf earned the most points, followed by Mason Moore and Spencer Magill.
Schauf has been a star for the Savages in their field events, racking up several top-five finishes this season. He finished his day with wins in the discus with a throw of 142’-1.00” and the shot put with 43’-10.00”. While it wasn’t his PR in the discus, Schauf officially kept his spot within the top 24 in the State. His best throw of 153’-8.00” is the 23rd best in the State, qualifying him for the Drake Relays this week.
Sigourney picked up more points off the track with Magill winning the high jump, eclipsing the bar at 6’, two inches better than his competition and one inch off his personal best. Back on the track, the Savages were led by Moore in their distance events. He placed second both the 1600m run at 5:13.67 and the 3200m run with 11:04.81.
