Shettler makes finals at Bill Riley Talen Search

Rylie Shettler, age 19, of Sigourney recently competed in the Bill Riley Talent Search at the Iowa State Fair with a vocal solo, “I’m Not Afraid of Anything”. This was the 60th year of the Bill Riley Talent Search, which is comprised of nearly 100 local qualifying shows held at local fairs and festivals statewide. The winners from these qualifying shows advance to compete at the Iowa State Fair.

During the fair, there are seven days of preliminary competition for Sprouts age 2-12 and Seniors ages 13-21, followed by three days of semi-finals, and ultimately six sprout champions and 9 Senior finalists are selected. Bill Riley Jr, encourages young people to compete at as many of these competitions as possible. Rylie competed at the county level, placing first at both the Keokuk County Expo and the Davis County talent shows. She then competed at the Iowa State Fair amidst approximately 110 performers in the preliminary round, advancing to the semi-finals comprised of 38 competitors. Rylie was then selected as 1 of the 9 finalists to perform at the Finals Championship Show on the final day of the Iowa State Fair which also aired on IPTV.
