SICL volleyball tournament recap

The 12 South Iowa Cedar League teams came together last week for their conference volleyball tournament. Pool play started last Monday, with three teams meeting at Lynnville-Sully, Belle Plaine, North Mahaska, and Iowa Valley.

In Pool A, at Lynnville-Sully, Sigourney took a hard-fought straight-sets win over BGM, 25-22, 25-21, and 25-17. The Lady Savages were then defeated by the Hawks of L-S in straight sets.

At Belle Plaine, Pool B featured the host Belle Plaine, Montezuma, and English Valleys. Becky Becker’s Lady Bears were unable to escape Round 1 with a win, losing to the Bravettes of Montezuma, 25-16, 25-10, and 25-11.

The Keota Eagles made the trip to North Mahaska for their pool play matchup with Colfax-Mingo. Sky Hahn’s team was unable to prevail, falling in straight sets, 25-18, 25-13, and 25-14.

In Pool D, the Lady Trojans of Tri-County matched up with the 10-18 HLV Lady Warriors, who they faced just four days earlier. Unfortunately, TC was unable to flip the script, losing 25-14, 25-8, and 25-11.
