Sprinting Savages get back on track

It had been over two weeks since the Lady Savages had faced competition of any sort, but they ended that streak when they went to compete at North Mahaska on April 5. Due to cancellations, it was also their first outdoor meet of the season. The ladies were led by their sprinters and placed highly in their field events as well.

    Despite the lengthy delay between meets, Autum Barthelman remained on top of her game by winning all three of her events. She finished first in the 100-meter run (13.16), 200-meter run (27.70) and the 100-meter hurdles (15.46). The Lady Savages also had some positive results in their relays and field events.

    Sigourney had five girls finish in the top 10 in the four field events, three of which were in the top five of their respective event. Hannah Lucas took third place in the high jump by getting over the 4’-4.00” bar, Megan Stuhr finished second in the discus with 94’-3.00” and Sloane Magill finished fourth in the shot put at 29’-1.00”.

    In their first meet without one of their top competitors, Summer Barthelman. The Lady Savages had Makenna Hammes and Lucas in the long jump, which was Summer’s primary event. Hammes finished sixth with 14’-0.50”, while Lucas was seventh at 13’-5.00”.

    Other results are as follows:

    100-meter dash: Megan Stuhr finished 12th (15.74)

    200-meter dash: Cami Thompson finished 16th (38.08)

    800-meter run: Megan Stuhr finished ninth (3:09.13)

    100-meter hurdles: Heidi Clarahan finished fourth (18.44)

    400-meter hurdles: Heidi Clarahan finished seventh (1:26.19)

    4x200-meter relay: Sigourney finished sixth (2:04.54)

    800-meter sprint medley: Sigourney finished eighth (2:26.89)

    Discus: Kaylee Weber finished 12th (60’-6.00”)

    Shot Put: Kaylee Weber finished 11th (24’-8.00”)

    The Lady Savages’ next competition took them to Hudson High on April 10.
