Stannerson, Glandon highlight EV XC

English Valleys had another strong showing from their top two runners in Carly Stannerson and Jacob Glandon when they competed at Lagos Acres on September 20. Neither team had enough runners compete to receive a score, but of the eight runners, half combined to finish in the top 15.

The meet was originally scheduled for earlier in the month but was postponed due to rain. Both boys’ and girls’ teams had to endure near 100-degree temperatures while navigating the hills and making their way through the competition.

Stannerson continued to lead the way for the Lady Bears by running the fifth-best time in the field of 46 girls, crossing the finish line at the 24:20 mark. Megan Glandon also finished in the top 15, running a time of 26:50 to take 14th place. Clara Mews wasn’t far behind her, finishing in 18th place after running a time of 27:43. Nevaeh Briggs also had a solid finish, running a time of 31:37 to finish in 32nd place.

On the boys’ side, Jacob had his best placement of the season, finishing in second place after running a time of 20:02. Bryson Grove also finished in the top 10 for the Bears, running a time of 21:12 to take seventh place. Luis Gonzales and Baylor Wiseman rounded out the team with Gonzales (23:20) finishing in 24th place and Wiseman (28:49) finishing in 39th place.

English Valleys headed to compete at Williamsburg on September 25.
