TC FFA Competes at Envirothon

On Monday, March 17th, students from Tri-County FFA competed in the regional Envirothon competition held in Iowa City at the Kirkwood Community College distance-learning center sponsored by Conservation Districts of Iowa. Members of the sophomore team were Emma Bair, Luke Bombei, Trevor Clemens, Ben Edmundson, and Ginny Schmidt. Members of the freshman team were Zach Bollinger, Jacob Bombei, Lydia Greene, Tyler Hynick, and Abbey Hartwig.

 

The Envirothon competition is a science-based contest in which students take four tests focusing on soil science, aquatic resources, wildlife management and forest management. Competitions of this type support Tri-County's initiative for STEM coursework. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. Students in agriculture courses at Tri-County schools engage in problem based activities aligned with national math and science standards.
