Theft charge made in Sigourney

Criminal charges are mere accusations and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

On Monday June 23rd at approximately 2:00 am the Sigourney Police Department arrested Mesenda A. Swan age 28 of Sigourney, for Burglary in the 3rd Degree.  Swan is accused of entering a vehicle in the 800 block of South Main St.  Following the arrest, the Sigourney Police Department with assistance from the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search in the 700 block of Mackey Ave.  Several items believed to be evidence in previous theft cases were seized.  The Police Department at this time is contacting possible victims who had reported items stolen, for potential additional criminal charges.
