Three girls named on first and second SICL teams

Three girls are represented from two of the four SICL schools as they were named on either the first or second conference teams. Autum and Summer Barthelman of Sigourney were named first and second-team respectively, while Audrey Grove of English Valleys made first team and Addison Sprouse of Keota made the second team list.

Autum Barthelman: In her final season as a Lady Savage, Autum took over the point guard position and played a major impact in the success that Sigourney saw throughout the season. She led the team in scoring with 431 points, averaging just shy of 20 points per game and making just over half her shots from the field. Autum also led the team in steals (108) and was second in assists
(69) and fifth in rebounds (75). Along the way she not only eclipsed 1,000 points for her career, but also set the Sigourney record for most points scored in any individuals’ time as a Savage.

Summer Barthelman: Summer wasn’t as much a factor in racking up points, but she did a little bit of everything else to fill up the stat sheet. She finished her season with 83 points scored, just under four per game. She finished third in assists (44) and steals (72) while committing the second-fewest turnovers as a starter on the team. Listed as the second-shortest player on the Sigourney girls’ team, Summer played much bigger than her height, pulling in the second most rebounds (104) and recorded three blocks on the season.

Audrey Grove: In her senior year at English Valleys, Grove played a pivotal role in all aspects of the game. On the offensive side of the ball she wound up leading the team in points with 323, averaging 14 points per game. Her offensive prowess during her time as a Lady Bear led her to breaking through the 1,000-point barrier late this past season. She was tied in team assists (62), was second in steals (47) but did end up with a team-high 33 blocks. Grove averaged nearly five rebounds per game, finishing her season with 113, the third most on the team.

Honorable Mentions:

Allison Steinke: In her senior year on the Tri-County squad, Steinke led her team with 181 points, averaging nearly nine points per game. She also led her team with 35 assists and was second in steals (52) and third in rebounds (88).

Leah Carter: Carter wrapped up her final year as a Lady Savage, playing as one of five starters and playing a pivotal role at crucial times throughout the season. She finished with the third-most points on the team with 144 and served as the primary threat from behind the arc, hitting 40 percent of her attempts. Carter finished the season with 21 steals and 15 assists (fifth-most on the team) while also grabbing 31 rebounds.

Megan Stuhr: Stuhr was flipflopped between the guard and post position throughout the season and used her size and physicality to her advantage along the way. She finished the year with the fourth most points (132), fourth most assists (35), fourth most in steals (39) and third most in rebounds (88). Stuhr also asserted herself on the defensive end, accounting for 32 of the team’s 50 blocks.

Sydney Olson: Olson ended her career at English Valleys with an impactful senior season on the basketball court. Her primary role was serving as the point guard and distributing the ball to her open teammates. She tied Grove in the assist category with 62 but did come up with the most steals for the Lady Bears with 66. Olson also grabbed 86 rebounds and scored 64 points on the offensive end.

Madison Trimpe: Trimpe played alongside Grove in many of their games in the post position, finding herself getting open when Grove would draw more attention. Trimpe had a knack for getting to the basket, bullying her way in the paint, which resulted in 261 points, and converting on nearly 56 percent of her shots from the field. She led the team with 193 rebounds, averaging over eight per game. Trimpe also blocked 17 shots, recorded 35 steals and assisted on 25 baskets.
