Tollefson begins first year at Pekin

At the end of the 2018-2019 school year, first-year high school principal Clint Gingerich announced his resignation, to accept a job as assistant principal at Oskaloosa Middle School. Within a matter of weeks, Pekin Schools had settled on their new top dog at Pekin High School: Bob Tollefson.

Tollefson is not completely new to the Pekin School District. In fact, Tollefson cut his teeth as a teacher at Pekin Schools. He was hired in 1999 as a math teacher, and worked at Pekin Schools until 2004, when he accepted a job at Davenport Schools.

“It was easier at that time for my wife to advance her career if we moved out in that direction,” Tollefson said.

Tollefson began his new position in July and has hit the ground running.

“It’s been awesome,” Tollefson said. “The kids have been great to work with. Some of the staff I had worked with before, some I hadn’t, so it’s been fun to get to know them and visit with them,” he added.
