Trojans Drop in First Four
The Tri-County volleyball team was handed a difficult stretch of SICL opponents to start its season.
First, the Trojans were given at matchup at New Sharon against a North Mahaska team that should contend at the top of the conference. Then, the team came home to play a long, athletic BGM team that won 13 games a year ago.
Against the Warhawks, Tri-County had trouble scoring against the athleticism of North Mahaska. The Trojans were defeated in all three sets: 25-13, 25-12, 25-11.
Tri-County was led by sophomore Natalie Steinke, who led the team with two kills in three attempts. Setter Ginny Schmidt also had a nice night, tallying five assists and a kill. Brooke Glenn, Katlyn Little and Michaela Lundy each added one kill apiece. Lundy had perhaps the best all-around game of any Trojan, finishing with six blocks, four digs and two kills on nine-of-nine serving.
