Trojans lose tough road test against ranked Tigers

Tri-County got a tough draw when they had to travel down to face New London, one of the top ranked teams in 8-man, on September 21. The high-powered Tigers offense proved to be too much as Tri-County wound up losing 8-81.

The Trojans couldn’t find a rhythm for most of the game but did put together a scoring drive late to give the offense a boost. Brayden Monroe did a little bit of everything for the Trojans including pass, run and catch, as well as play defense. Dayton Pace led the team with 40 passing yards on three completions and Monroe added on another 25 passing yards and the lone score.

Tri-County executed a trick play as Monroe lobbed a ball to Pace, who caught it and took it 22 yards to the endzone. Monroe also led the team in rushing, racking up 66 yards on 17 carries and caught three passes for 40 yards, averaging just over 13 yards per catch.

Monroe was also a factor on defense, leading the team with 3.5 tackles, three being solo tackles. Kobe Riffel also had three tackles, all solo, while Tanner Lundy, Dayton Orr-Meyer, Pace and Jovonta Shields-Keys recorded at least one tackle each.

Tri-County is hoping to get Tegon Fogle back after clearing concussion protocol. Fogle left the field in an ambulance a week prior after taking a hit to the helmet.

The Trojans will be back on their home field when they host Montezuma on September 28.
