Turnovers cost Trojans in loss to Warhawks

Tri-County traveled to face North Mahaska on January 31, their first game in over a week, and had some rust to shake off early. The game was close most of the way, but turnovers cost the Trojans in a 51-37 loss.

The two teams traded blows in the first period until in the final minute North Mahaska reserve Logan Shipley rained a 3-pointer to put the Warhawks up 17-13. North Mahaska was able to pull ahead a bit further and could have had a strong lead at halftime, but with one tick left on the clock before halftime Tri-County’s Jackson Phillips drained a trey to close the gap to 26-20 at the break.

Aydan Bos led Tri-County’s scoring with nine points Dayton Pace had eight and Brayden Monroe scored seven. Phillips had six. Tegon Fogle led the rebounding for the Trojans with eight.

The teams will be playing several games over the next two weeks to account for many of the postponements and cancellations.
