Waechter, Wehr named Sigourney 2017 Homecoming Queen and King

           After a night of fun, laughs and remembrance, Sigourney High School has declared their Homecoming King and Queen for 2017.

           Brooke Waechter, the daughter of Terry Waechter and Betty Waechter, was named Sigourney Homecoming Queen. Brooke is the sister of Matthew, Michael, Teryn, Morgan, Mark, Bryce and Brayden. She is involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, track, band, colorguard, speech and drama. Outside of school, she is a lifeguard at the Sigourney Municipal Pool and coaches kids soccer. Brooke plans on majoring in Dental Hygiene at Des Moines Area Community College. 

           Nolan Wehr, the son of Nickolas Wehr and Shana Clark, was named Sigourney Homecoming King. Nolan is the older brother to Jolie. He has been involved in trapshooting, roller hockey, FFA as president and the Treasurer for the Southeast District FFA. Outside of school, he has been a member of the 4-H County Youth Council for two years. His future plans are undecided, but will revolved around Production Agriculture. 

            Presenting Brooke and Nolan with their tiara and crown were 2016 Sigourney Homecoming Queen Sarina Gretter; Little King Gabe Thompson, son of Casey and Amber Thompson and Abel McCulley, daughter of Bronson McCulley and Amy Wells. 

            The following ladies and gentleman made up the rest of the Homecoming Court:

            Samantha Bird is daughter of Shawn and Melissa Bird and the older sister to Gavin. She is currently involved in wrestling cheerleading and golf. Sam currently works at Sigourney Manor House as a CNA and plans on attending Indian Hills Community College for Nursing.

            Rylie Shettler is the daughter of Steve and Staci Shettler. She has been involved with band, choir, drama, Key Club. TAG, student council, National Honor Society, speech, Spanish club, Cobra football cheerleading and is the senior class president. Rylie belongs to the Sigourney United Methodist Youth Group. Her possible future plans are to attend Chicago College of Performing Arts to obtain a Bachelors in Fine Arts.

            Khloe Snakenberg is the daughter of Pat and Cindy Snakenberg and the younger sister to Amber, Bryce and Sommer. Khloe is involved in band, choir, speech, drama and FFA. Outside of school, she is involved at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Youth Group, performed at the Washington Community Theatre this past summer, Riverside 4-H and the 4-H County Youth Council. Her future plans are to attend Indian Hills Community College and then transfer to a university to major in Music Education and Theatre, with a minor in Special Education.

            Sydney Striegel is the daughter of Dean and Shellie Striegel and the older sister to Brett and Evan. Sydney has been involved in volleyball, golf, band, student council as Vice President, Class President, Cobra cheerleading, speech, drama, Key Club, National Honor Society, FCCLA and is a Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Candidate. Outside of school, she is a Sunday School teacher’s assistant and is a life guard at the Sigourney Municipal Pool. Her future plans are to attend a four-year college to major in Biomedical Engineering.

            Luke House is the son of Dan and Andrea House and the older brother of Ben. Luke has been involved in cross country, football, wrestling, track, soccer, band and FFA. Outside of school, he is an active member at St. Mary’s Church. His future plans are currently undecided.

            Nick Ives is the son of Matthew and Christel Ives and the older brother of Jake and Zack. Nick has been involved in soccer, cross country, wrestling, band, National Honor Society, Key Club and Youth Group. His future plans are to attend a four-year college and major in biochemistry with a Pre-Med track.

            Casey Jarmes is the son of Gary and Jaci and the brother of Cory and Cale. Casey is involved in speech and drama. Outside of school, he is the President of the Sigourney United Methodist Youth Group and works at Brothers Market. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, watching TV, gaming and editing his first novel which he plans to release by the end of the year. Casey’s future plans are to dual major in Creative Writing and Video Game Design at either DePaul University or Columbia College of Chicago. 

Kaleb Reeves is the son of Craig and Kelli Reeves and the brother of Noah and Austin. Kaleb is involved in wrestling, speech, drama, student council and Key cClub. Outside of school, he is involved in the Sigourney Christian Youth Group, help coach little SK wrestling and interns with Mrs. Hahn’s second grade class. His future plans are to major in Elementary Education with a minor in Administration or Coaching, and to continue his wrestling career during college.
