SIGOURNEY – Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Sigourney's City Hall had been closed to the public since
mid-March this past spring. In the October 14th issue of The News-Review, we mistakenly reported that
Sigourney City Hall would remain closed to the public. However, after much discussion during the
October 7th Sigourney City Council meeting, Council Members actually voted to open city hall to the public.
That vote was conducted with four of the six Council Members in attendance.
The topic was again discussed during the October 21 City Council meeting and the Council Members
again voted to leave City Hall open to the public with public access restricted to the front lobby. After
months of being an agenda item, the subject was then removed as a topic for future Council meetings.
Sigourney's City Council also addressed the recurring Parks and Recreation agenda items. Council
Members voted to open the park shelters to the public and to leave the playground equipment and ball
fields open to the public, but voted to leave the restrooms closed to the public due to continued concerns
over Covid-19.
