Adam and Brown Break Records in Win Over Van Buren

PACKWOOD—The Pekin Panthers had the privilege of a second home game in a row to start the season. The Panthers took full advantage, and stomped the Van Buren Warriors by a final score of 54-0. In total, the Panthers out-scored their opponent 130-0 in their first two games of the season.

The first play of the game was a direct indication on what would happen. Pekin senior Caden Bender broke through blockers and recorded a sack on the very first defensive snap for the Panthers. The Panthers defense would go on to secure their second straight shutout to start the season.

The Panthers offense proved to be potent once again. The passing game was on point all game to where quarterback Will Adam and receiver Robert Brown set school records.

Adam passed for 326 total yards, while Brown tallied 204 of those as receiving yards. Both were single game records.

The Panthers offense had five separate touchdown scorers on the night. Will Adam had three passing touchdowns, Nolan Glick had two rushing touchdowns, Henry Adam had two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown, Alijah Brock had a receiving touchdown and Robert Brown had a receiving touchdown.

Pekin totaled over 543 total yards (326 passing and 217 rushing). Combined with their last week stomping of the Cardinal Comets, the Panthers have totaled 1,039 yards in their first two victories. 

The Panthers have a big matchup this coming week between two teams ranked in the Top 20 of Class A. They have pushed to #12 ranked in Class A, and will visit the #18 ranked Danville Bears.
