Brady Clark surpasses 100 career wins
SIGOURNEY - For four years he has been honing his craft.
Earlier this season the the hard work paid off for Sigourney-Keota wrestler Brady Clark as he was able to notch career win 100.
The 157-pound wrestler has had a strong start to the season. He holds the total wins record so far this season for the Cobras as he holds a 9-1 overall record.
Clark helped the Cobras last week as the senior and the rest of the team wrestled in a quadrangular tournament against PCM, Pleasantville and Pella on Dec. 10.
The Cobras fell to Pella 39-36 in a match that came down to the final weight.
Pella won the first two matches, first by a tech fall and then by a pin.
Sigourney-Keota would get on the board first when Dillion Menke would win a 21-19 match over his 138-pound opponent.
Clark was the next to add a win. Wrestling at the 150-pound match, Clark earned a tech fall 15-0 win over his opponent in the first period.
Jacob Libe was able to win the 157-pound match with a pin late in the second period.
Owen Menke needed just 18 seconds to pin his 285-pound opponent. Another six points came to the Cobras when Paxton Wehr won by forfeit at 113-pounds.
Against PCM Monroe the Cobras fell 40-29.
Jayden Thompson would gain a win at 190-pounds with a third period pin.
Paxton Wehr won his 113-pound division match with a forfeit. Brycen Horras also won his 126-pound match with a forfeit.
Dawson Meyer won the 144-pound match with a pin in the second period.
Clark added another tech fall win as he won the 150-pound division 16-1 in a match that was called after two periods.
The Cobras fell to Pleasantville 46-26. Clark was one of the first wins for the Cobras in that match as he earned a third tech fall on the night, needing 1:20 to defeat his opponent 15-0.
Ashton Schwab would win an 8-3 decision in the 175-pound match.
Jayden Thompson wrestled at 190-pounds and won via a pin late in the second period.
Zach Guffey would win the 215-pound match. He pinned his opponent in 1:31. Owen Menke won the heavyweight match with a pin in 1:33.
The Cobras wrestling tournament on Dec. 14 was canceled because of icy conditions.
On Dec. 17 the Cobras took on English Valleys and Colfax-Mingo in a triangular dual.
