Carol Starr

1941-2020

Carol Ann Starr, 79, formerly of Richland, died at Great River Medical Center late Monday October 5, 2020.

She was born in Richland on June 28, 1941, to Paul Jake and Genevieve Marie Kiefer Ott. Carol grew up in Ollie, graduated from Ollie High School in 1960 and married Richard Dale Starr Oct. 14, 1961, in Clear Creek. He died Nov. 20, 2018. Carol lived in Richland most of her married life, was a housewife and worked at McCleery-Cummins Calendar Factory in Washington for many years. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, collecting antiques, shopping, and spending time with family. Carol was a member of an Antique Clock Club, Mother Cabrini Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by two sons: Randy Starr (Tracy) of Richland and Wayne Starr (Leigh) of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and one daughter, Melody Kramer (Scott) of North Liberty, five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one step great grandchild, and her sister, Verneen Reynolds (Larry) of Visalia, Calif. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Junior Ott.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 10, at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland with Rev. Robert A. Lathrop officiating. Burial was in Clear Creek Cemetery near Harper. Visitation was held immediately preceding the Mass starting at 9:30 a.m. Memorials for St. Jude’s Children's Hospital or for the Richland Volunteer First Responders may be left at the church or mailed to the family at 1060 Cory Ct, North Liberty, IA 52317-9168. Due to continuing Covid19 concerns, Social distancing and masks will be required. Gould Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.
