Cobras advance to quarterfinals following 35-14 win over Beckman Catholic

Sam Sieren opened the scoring tonight for the No. 3 Sigourney-Keota Cobras with a one yard rush in the first quarter. Evan Dawson’s 29 yard reception from Cade Molyneux would increase the margin to 14 at the half.

Both Brady Duwa and Wyatt Sieren had first half interceptions to extinguish two Blazer drives.

“Our guys always are competing, trying to make ourselves better. Our linebackers love forcing fumbles and defensive backs we're going to

keep being ballhawks,” Brady Duwa said.

The Cobras would have a 17 play, 93 yard drive in the second half which would be capitalized by a three yard plunge by Sam Sieren, the PAT went wide right.

With 8:32 left in the fourth quarter, Beckman Catholic got on the scoreboard with a touchdown pass from Nick Offerman to Trent Koelker.

Sam Sieren quickly responded with a 49 yard rush and a successful two point conversion to put Sigourney-Keota up 28-7 with 8:22 left in the game.

“I can’t say enough about our O-Line,” Duwa said.

Sieren would also get the final Cobra touchdown of the night with a rush from the Beckman Catholic 8.

“Everybody did their part tonight, Sam Sieren having five touchdowns in back to back weeks, I hope he keeps it up,” Duwa said.

Trent Koelker would have the last score of the night, with 0:19.1 seconds left in the game.
