David A. Snakenberg, 84

SIGOURNEY-David A. Snakenberg, age 84, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.
David was born October 8, 1940, in Webster, the son of John “J.W.” and Mary (Weber) Snakenberg and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1959. A lifelong resident of Keokuk County, David worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 24 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church. David wintered in New Port Richey, Florida for about 10 years and enjoyed walking around and talking to people. He would rather talk to people than eat – he was hungry all the time.
Survivors include his daughter: Kimberly Snakenberg Bywaters of Olathe, Kansas; son: John David Snakenberg of Ottumwa; two grandsons: Austin Blake and Corey Barkus; four adopted grandchildren: Aidan, Seth, Aubrianna and Addisyn Bywaters and his best friend and canine companion: Indiana Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson: Alex Blake and four siblings: Marietta Snakenberg, Ray “Paduke” Snakenberg, Helen Lee and Mignon Dumont.
Per David’s wishes, he will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
