PRINCE GEORGE, Va.-Dean Leroy Curtis, age 92, of Prince George, Va., passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Va.

Dean was born Jan. 17, 1929, in Fairfield, to Rollie and Clara (Ingle) Curtis. Following his graduation from high school, Dean served in the United States Army for seven years. Dean was a union plasterer, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and former member of Plasterers Local #26 in Rock Island, Ill. Dean was an avid and active supporter of many charities including Wounded Warriors, cancer foundations and research, and numerous others. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, fishing, especially in Canada, and spending Iowa winters in Florida fishing and going to the dog tracks. Survivors include his family by choice Marty, Debbie and Brandon Franciscus of Chesterfield, Va., Bradley and Crystal Franciscus and Parker Cole of Dinwiddie, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his long time dear companion Christina Franciscus whom he met while on active duty in Germany.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. There will be no visitation.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Keokuk County Historical Society, 402 E. Elm Street, Sigourney, IA 52591.
