Enchanted Events Raises More than $6,000 for Local Schools

SIGOURNEY – Enchanted Events, a wedding venue outside Sigourney, held a fundraiser event for local schools, featuring a dinner and a silent auction. The fundraiser sold 130 meal tickets and raised $6759.64 for the Sigourney, Keota, Pekin and Tri-County school districts, which will be used to purchase winter jackets and school supplies for underprivileged students. 43 local businesses donated either directly or through items for the silent auction.

“All of our kids are in school, and we know how hard it is for some to get winter coats and things like that,” said Enchanted Events Manager Melissa Brubaker. “We just kinda thought we’d organize something and see how it went. Honestly, even though there isn’t a whole lot of people here, it’s a good turnout for me. There’s a lot of people in this community that supported us, so we’re really grateful for that.”
