English Valleys Participate in SICL Meet at Grinnell College

GRINNELL—The English Valleys track teams headed to Grinnell College on March 18 for a SICL Meet.

Kennedy Axmear, Drake Relay and State Qualifier for discus, took home the gold in the shot put event with a longest throw recorded at 34-10.00. Taylor Mikesell, another state qualifier for discus, finished in fourth place with a longest throw recorded at 31-02.00.

Kailor Lown placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 11.08.

For team events, the girls distance medley team finished in first place with a time of 4:52.14. The distance medley team consists of Delaney Hall, Libby Armstrong, Aubrey Achenbach and Addison Achenbach.

The 4x800 team, which consisted of Nicole Murphy, Kaylee Frazier, Aubrey Achenbach and Addison Achenbach, took home third place with a time of 11:37.05.

 For the boys, state qualifier Gage Heyne kept up where he left off in the distance medley with a first place finish in 4:38.44.

Deshon Anderson placed sixth in the 60 meter dash with a final time of 7.59.

In the 400 meter dash, Coen Good took home sixth place with a time of 59.20.

For the team events, the 4x800 team, which consisted of Jonathyn Downing, Hunter Offerman, Jack Osborne and Gage Heyne, took home the silver with a time of 9:19.41.

The girls track team will return to action on March 26, when they head to Belle Plaine high school. The boys team returns to action on March 25, when they head to the Pekin Meet.
