SIGOURNEY—The word perfect can be found in the dictionary with an example being Carly Goodwin’s performances first against the English Valleys Bears, and now the Iowa Valley Tigers. Goodwin guided the Savages to a 9-0 victory over the Tigers with a 17 strikeout performance in seven innings pitched.

Goodwin once again struck out 81% of the opposing batters that stepped up in the batter’s box.

On the season, Goodwin has pushed her ERA (earned runs averaged) to an astounding 0.32, while holding opposing batters to a 0.070 batting average. In her four games played, she has only allowed five total hits and one earned run, while striking out 56 batters. Her total innings pitched is at 22.0, so she averages 2.5 strikeouts per inning. This means that every other inning, Goodwin strikeouts the side.

For Savages’ offense, Josephine Moore led the team with three runs batted in on two singles and a double on the day. Ava Fisch and Carly Goodwin also knocked in a pair of runners for the Savages.

The Savages keep the loss column unblemished as they push to 5-0 on the season, and will return to action on June 2, when they visit the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks.
