Greg K. Rash, 61

Greg K. Rash, age 61, of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Greg was born May 10, 1962 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Max and Anita Rash. He graduated from Seymour High School with the class of 1980.

After high school Greg went to school to be a carpenter, a trade that he remained interested in throughout his life. In addition to carpentry, Greg took a series of jobs over the coming decades that frequently involved the operation of heavy machinery; early on this was at a rock quarry near Sigourney, Iowa, later he worked as bulldozer operator in the Des Moines area, but most notably Greg was an over the road truck driver.

Greg was a loving father to sons Trevor and Tyler and enjoyed every opportunity he got to be with them and their families. He especially enjoyed his fishing and hunting trips with his sons. In September 2023, Greg, Trevor and Tyler attended a group fishing trip to Lake of the Woods Ontario, one of Greg’s favorite fishing spots.

Greg also loved spending his time with his significant other, Celeste, traveling and taking her with him on the road when he would haul loads for Wilson Trucking.

Greg was an avid coin collector, Minnesota Vikings fan, and hunter. Greg didn’t know a stranger, he had a huge heart, and would give the shirt off of his back to anyone.

Greg leaves behind his significant other Celeste Mattson, his two sons Trevor (Amber) Rash and Tyler (Ashley) Rash, his granddaughter Sawyer and grandsons Cooper, Grayson and Callum, his siblings Kevin (Patty) Rash, Mickey (Don) Lindstrom, and Kim Rash, as well as many nephews, nieces, friends, and other loved ones.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents Max and Anita Rash, his paternal grandparents, Zora and Myral Rash, his maternal grandparents Absolam and Mamie Shepherd, and his brother Joel Rash and his wife Sally.

Greg was a kind and generous man with a huge heart and didn’t want to be a burden to anyone. His family has decided to honor his request of no funeral services, but will hold a celebration of life in his memory on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Seymour Community Center in Seymour, Iowa.
