Jeffrey Marget

1961-2022

Jeff David Marget of Chandler, Ariz, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 at the age of 60 after a series of health issues originating from a disability that confined him to a wheelchair for the last several years of his life.

Jeff was born to Robert and Sally Marget on April 19, 1961 in Sigourney. He grew up there with his sisters, Robin, Kathleen and Molly, enjoying the freedom of small town life and a strong sense of community. He spent considerable time at the swimming pool and golf course in the summers, also playing whatever sport was in season. During high school, Jeff golfed, wrestled, and played football...a highlight being part of Sigourney’s 1979 State Championship football team. After graduation in the spring of 1980, Jeff attended the University of Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

In January of 1984, Jeff and Kim Clubb of Sigourney married. They moved to the Phoenix area in 1986, and welcomed a baby daughter, Courtney, in December of 1987. Jeff and Kim later divorced.

During the last years of his life, Jeff was fortunate to share a home with Courtney, her husband Travis, and their children Leah, Cameron and Everly. Those children were the light that shone brightest when Jeff needed it most.

While Jeff’s disability limited his physical activities, it did not define his life. Jeff did not dwell on the things he could not do, but kept his happiness rooted in family and friends. His attitude and demeanor was always positive and forward-looking… something everyone should emulate. Jeff was a kind and caring man with a great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.

Jeff is survived by his daughter, Courtney (Travis) Miles, his grandchildren, Leah, Cameron and Everly, his sisters, Robin (Dave) House of Marion, Kathleen (Dan) O’Rourke of Sigourney, and Molly (Sage) Dahlstrom of Coralville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sally Marget.

A memorial service is being planned for the 4th of July weekend in Sigourney. A memorial fund is established in Jeff’s name at County Bank, 201 S. Jefferson St., P.O. Box 207, Sigourney, IA 52591.
