Joseph Bernard Greiner, 57

KEOTA-Joseph Bernard Greiner, age 57, of rural Wellman, died Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at his home.

Joe was born September 8, 1967, in Iowa City, the son of Kenneth and Barbara (Irving) Greiner.  He graduated from Keota High School in 1985 and served in the United States Army from 1986 until 1989.  He married Julie Niece and they had three children before divorcing.  Later on, he had another daughter, Kinzee.  Joe then married Brenda Walker on September 8, 2023.  A lifelong resident of the Keota community, Joe was a manager for Prestage Farms for the last 17 years.  Joe was known for his hog marketing, being called the Rain Man for pigs, was a great athlete, was extremely kind-hearted and a friend to all.  He enjoyed having fun, Hawkeye wrestling and football and his grandchildren.  

Survivors include his wife: Brenda Greiner of Wellman; four children: Peyton (Bonnie) Greiner of Richland and their children Ava Jo, Otto and Adella, Bayley (Matthew) Keith of Norwood, Missouri and their daughter Wrenley, Ethan Greiner of Brooklyn, New York and Kinzee Greiner of Keota; two step-children: Tyler (Taylor) Sieren of Williamsburg and their children Nash and Arlen and Madison Lou (Andy) Dyer of Richland and their children Brayleigh and Kinleigh; three grandchildren on the way and five siblings: Robert Greiner of Keota, Cindy (Brian) Culich of Des Moines, Brian (Shannon) Greiner of Keota, Michelle (Todd) Swearingen of Hedrick and Melissa (Robin) Greiner of Riverside.  He was preceded in death by his parents.



Memorial mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Robert Lathrop presiding.  Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery in rural Harper.  Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church.  A celebration of life will be held at The Roost in Keota following the service.
